Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting helps a room feel bigger by embedding the light cans into the ceiling so that nothing hangs down and interrupts the visual space of the room.

This means you don’t have to have floor lamps for those dark corners or lights protruding from the walls or ceilings to give life to that hallway or dining room.

We install 4”, 5”, 6” standard, eyeballs, or wall-wash recessed lights wherever you want to improve your lighting designs.

Types of Recessed Lighting

Standard

These are the most common types of recessed lighting. They are designed to cast a downward, broad beam of light and are ideal for ambient lighting in various rooms.

Eyeball

Adjustable and directional, eyeball lights have a rotating inner housing that allows you to direct light precisely where it's needed, perfect for accent lighting or highlighting artwork.

Wall-Wash

These have a shield over one side of the light to direct light towards a wall. They are used to illuminate vertical surfaces, enhance the texture of the wall, or highlight displayed items.

 No Job is Too Small

It’s not always the sweeping changes that make the most difference, but often the minor adjustments and enhancements that elevate the comfort and convenience in your home.

Let us take care of your electrical needs, whether you need a whole home renovation or a single bulb replacement.

Transform Your Space With Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting, with its versatility and aesthetic appeal, is a stellar choice for illuminating every corner of your home.

From creating the perfect ambiance to enhancing functionality, here's how recessed lights can transform your space…

Kitchen

Illuminate countertops for a clear view while cooking and preparing meals.

Brighten up the island or breakfast nook, making them ideal for dining and socializing.

Bedroom

Overhead or front-positioned lights offer the perfect reading ambiance.

Light up your wardrobe, making it easy to find what you're looking for.

Home Office or Study

Task lighting over desks or work areas to reduce eye strain and improve productivity.

Living Room

Achieve a warm, welcoming atmosphere with strategically placed lights.

Spotlight artwork and architectural details for an elevated look.

Dining Room

Focused lighting over your dining table sets the mood for memorable meals.

Spotlight some art on the walls for a special touch.

Outdoor Spaces

Illuminate walkways, entryways, or patios under eaves or soffits, boosting both beauty and security.

Bathroom

Enjoy shadow-free lighting for grooming, thanks to overhead or side placements.

(Opt for wet-rated fixtures to safely light up these areas.)

Hallways and Entryways

Ensure these transitional spaces are well-lit, guiding you and your guests through your home.

Spacing the lights evenly can provide a guiding path through the area.

Staircases

Keep stairs well-lit and safe, crucial for homes with children or the elderly.

When planning recessed lighting, think about the room's purpose, existing lighting, and potential shadows. The right placement and fixtures can significantly impact your home's look and feel.

When You’re Upgrading, Go LED

LED lighting stands at the forefront of energy efficiency, offering long-lasting performance and significant savings on your energy bills.

With a range of colors and brightness levels, LEDs can create the perfect mood for any setting.

Benefits of LED Lighting

  • Energy efficiency: consumes up to 90% less power than incandescent bulbs

  • Longer lifespan: outshines traditional lighting with a lifespan of up to 25,000+ hours

  • Reduced heat emission: emit significantly less heat, enhancing comfort and reducing cooling costs

  • Eco-friendly: free of mercury, with a smaller carbon footprint due to their energy efficiency, durability, and use of recyclable materials

  • Flexible design options: offer dimmability, various colors, shapes, and sizes, fitting diverse applications

Process for Installing Recessed Lighting

We’ll Get the Lights Shining

A single installation can take as little as a half an hour, and a full renovation can take a few days depending on the amount of wiring and preparation needed.

1—Consultation

An initial consultation to understand your vision, needs, and preferences—including assessing the space for the type of lighting best suited to the room’s function and design aesthetic.

2—Preparation

Setting up the workspace to ensure safety, including turning off the power to the circuit being worked on. Then gathering all necessary tools and materials, including the lighting fixtures, wiring, switches, and personal protective equipment.

3—Cutting and Wiring

Marking and cutting out holes in the ceiling for the recessed or canned lights using a template or specific measurements. Then running electrical wiring through the ceiling to each light fixture’s location.

4—Fixture Installation

Securing the lighting fixtures into the ceiling, ensuring they are flush and stable. For LED lights, this may also involve connecting to a driver or transformer. Then wiring each fixture to the power source and ensuring connections are secure and meet electrical codes.

5—Switches and Dimmers

Installing any switches or dimmers required to control the lighting. This includes running wiring from the light fixtures to the switch location and ensuring the switch is properly connected and functional.

6—Testing and Quality Check

Turning the power back on and testing each light. This includes checking for proper illumination, dimming functionality, and that all fixtures are securely installed. A final inspection to ensure the installation meets professional standards and the your expectations.
