My wife suggested we get a generator installed after the power outage caused by super storm Sandy. It was not too long of an outage, but we agreed we were probably going to have more of them in the future and more often as well. Having lived in Chadds Ford for since 1987 we are used to losing power. Sometimes a strong wind is enough to cause an outage and we have had a few lasting three days. So, long story short, I did my online research and decided on a Generac.
I Googled for someone local to install the generator and landed on New London Electric's website. I called and talked with Tom O'Neill who was experienced with Generac and very knowledgeable. I made an appointment for him to come out and take a look at our situation. He arrived on time, said he would have no problems with the installaion and he emailed me his quote the next day for a 17Kw Generac which he said was enough to run everything in the house except our heat pump and oven. I asked him a few questions and he gave me straightforward answered. His price being competitive, and as I prefer dealing with local businesses as opposed to big box stores, I gave him the go ahead.
The installation turned out to be a two step process. Tom and his son T.J. came out and installed the Generac outside, ran wires into our basement and mounted the Generac switch box on the wall next to our breaker panels. They had to move a lot of junk around in the basement, but they didn't complain. They did a superb job, totally professional. Then after Taylor Oil & Propane in Kennett hooked up our propane tank to the Generac, T.J. came back and finished the installation in about 4.5 hours. The generator test ran flawlessly. T.J. showed me how to switch on the generator should the automatic switch fail and after cleaning up he was finished and we were in business.
Now, when the next power outage comes, we will be able to cook our meals, watch cable TV, take a hot shower and not worry about our food spoiling. And I can work from home as I do every day, running my own small business over the internet.
Tom, add me to your list of satisfied customers. I would recommend you to anyone who is thinking about having a Generac installed.

My wife and I have lived in Landenberg for over 25 years. We used the internet and phone book to find qualified electricians to do wiring for a basement home theatre, panel upgrade and generator installation. We had two other companies out before meeting Tom. We quickly realized we had been over thinking the project and over spending too.
Tom took the time to ask what we were trying to accomplish. We quickly found out we didn't need a new 300 amp panel, that installing new outlets and new ceiling lights weren't as high dollar as the others had quoted and most of all we didn't need a huge 20kw/$9K generator etc... Others sold us upgrades that we simply didn't need and Tom saved us a lot of uncessary expense.
Tom and TJ did all the work and did an excellent job. I highly recommend their quality work and most importantly their honesty and integrity. If we need anything else done electrical in our home, we'll be calling New London Electric. One of the best decisions I made when building my home was to have you install a Generac generator to service both the main house and the tenant house. As you know, figuring out how to connect the two places was a bit of a challenge, but that was no problem for you. Unfortunately, in my area the electricity goes off quite frequently, and when this happens, the generator comes on within a few minutes and I don't even know the electricity has gone off. You and TJ are truly exceptional--both of you are always prompt, courteous and professional, and it's nice to know that when I call, you are the one who answers the phone (not some machine). I can't thank you enough.

New London Electric did a thorough analysis of my needs and installed a separate breaker panel dedicated to my new portable generator which will prevent me from ever dealing with the many inconveniences of being without power again. In October of 2011, New London Electric Inc, completed the full installation of two 20 KW Generac generators on our property here in Chadds Ford, Pa. The installation included the purchase of the two Generators which New London supplied, all electric wiring work and the piping hook-up for Natural Gas.
The work was completed in a timely and efficient manner and I can highly recommend their work to any person or company considering a similar installation. The first time Tom O'Neill did electrical work for us was about 10 years ago when we first moved into our home. We hired a contractor to finish our basement and he contracted Tom to do the wiring. We were so impressed with the results that as the years have gone by, we have continued to hire him any time we need electrical work. He has done everything from adding outlets inside and outside the house, to wiring an awning to an outlet, to installing fans, lights and chandeliers. In particular, we asked him several years ago to install a large chandelier in our two-story entrance hallway.
This was quite a challenging job, or so we thought, but Tom and his son TJ were definitely up to it. They were well prepared for the job and completed it without a hitch. More recently, they installed a fan in the ceiling of our study. Since the ceiling was not previously wired for this, they found a way to pull the wires through without them showing and without tearing up the ceiling in order to gain access to the outlet.
Tom is a consummate professional. He is always there when he says he will be there and does what he says he will do in a timely manner.
I never worry about him working around the house if I cannot be home while the work is being done. He leaves everything as he found it. There is no cleaning up to do on my part!
We are always happy to recommend Tom to our friends and neighbors. He truly is an exceptional craftsman!

I want to start by saying what a tremendous job you did with the three rooms in my house. I have been looking for a great, reliable electrician for months now and have not been able to find one until now. I would highly recommend Tom and TJ O'Neill to anyone looking to have electrical work done in their home or business.
I called Tom O'Neill about a week ago, and from the first second of the conversation he made me feel comfortable trusting his word and workmanship. I explained how I needed three ceiling fans wired and installed in my townhouse, as I am explaining the setup, Tom was walking me through the entire process setting the expectations of the type of work they do. Tom and his son TJ did exactly what they said they were going to do, they said 8 am start time, they rang the door bell at 8 am, they covered all the furniture, and treated my house as if it were their own. They cleaned up like you never knew they were there, and the ceiling fans work perfect along with a speed control switch so I don't have to use the pull cords. In my book that is all you can ask for someone to tell you what they can do and deliver.
I am writing to tell you I didn't know Tom or his son TJ before today and didn't have a recommendation, but I read the testimonials on his website from other customers and that was enough for me. Tom and his son, TJ, recently completed work in my home and I have to say I was very impressed with the entire experience. When I called New London Electric, Tom returned my call later that day to arrange a time to take care of my projects. Tom and his son arrived early in the morning and had the work completed and work areas cleaned within a few hours.

Thank you for your recent work, both installing the major electric circuit from the pole, and the several smaller - but just as important to us - needed upgrades, such as that one last recessed light that really makes the new kitchen work pop. We have come to rely on your help as we try to figure out where we need better lighting and where we might want to most conveniently locate new power outlets. The power surge protector has been a great comfort with all the lightning and power surges and outages. This must be the fourth or fifth time you have helped us here since we moved into our 33 year-old house eight or so years ago. You have really been a crucial asset as we have updated our home.

We found Tom O'Neill, New London Electric, eight years ago when we moved to our farm. He was recommended by Denney Lighting of Kennett Square; they are a lighting supply house. Since that time Tom has rewired my entire horse barn, including adding fans to each stall, and setting up the electrical for my Nelson automatic horse waterers.
We then began 3 years of renovation on our house. He has rewired the entire house, including five bathrooms and the kitchen. He has a keen sense of lighting design that makes use of every possible source of light. His technique for garden lighting is extremely creative and offers security at the same time. He also rewired our pool last year after it had been replastered.
His emergency response is also the best and most prompt.

Tom worked with us on our kitchen project. As we were getting started he spent about two hours with us, walking through the space, discussing how we would use the space, and where we would enter the room. As a result, the layout of lighting is wonderful, and the placement of switches in the room is perfect.
The quality of work done was excellent - any time Tom had questions about how we wanted to handle something, he discussed it with us to insure we were in agreement about what he was proposing. During our project Tom had to deal with creative wiring in a 50-year old house, so there were definitely challenges!
We are really enjoying our kitchen, and look forward to working with Tom again on another project.
